The Roots of Responsibility ERC project team is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members: Maximilian Kiener, Claire Field, and David Campbell.

Maximilian Kiener will be an ERC Research Fellow on the project, which he will hold as an Extraordinary Junior Research Fellow at The Queen’s College, University of Oxford, for two years starting October 2019. He is currently finalising a DPhil in Philosophy at the University of Oxford (expected in September 2019).
Claire Field will be an ERC Research Fellow on the project, which she will hold at UCL, for two years starting September 2019. Previously, she studied at the University of St Andrews, where she was a member of the Arché Philosophical Research Centre and the Centre for Ethics, Philosophy, and Public Affairs.
David Campbell will be an Associate Research Fellow on the project, and Visiting Researcher at the Department of Philosophy, UCL, starting September 2019. Previously he researched for his PhD at the School of Law, Trinity College Dublin, where he was co-convenor of the Irish Jurisprudence Society. He has also been called to the Bar of Ireland.

Our advertisement for the post-docs attracted applications from highly talented philosophers and lawyers, and in the event, we were able to make three appointments. David Campbell is coming from Trinity College, Dublin, where his PhD dissertation developed ideas about duties, agency, culpability and liability, inspired by the work of Joseph Raz. He has also been called to the Bar of Ireland. Claire Field completed her PhD at St Andrews. She works at the intersection of ethics and epistemology, especially on false normative beliefs. Max Kiener has written a PhD dissertation on consent in the context of medical treatment and participation in drug trials. David and Claire will be working at UCL, while Max’s fellowship will be based at The Queen’s College, Oxford. All three will be participating in the project’s first workshop in December.
These three new members have been appointed after a long selection process. We received a large number of applications, almost all with strong research profiles and interesting research proposals. We thank all those who applied for the fellowships, and hope that many of them will be involved in the RoR project in one way or another.
