Research Seminar Spring 2020 “Agency and Responsibility”
14 January 2020
The second instalment of the project’s research seminar, which will be on Agency and Responsibility, will run during Term Two at UCL, from January to March, 2020. We will meet on Tuesdays, from 16.00 to 18.00, in the seminar room, Department of Philosophy, UCL (19 Gordon Square). Notifications for individual meetings will be created in due course in this section.
This is an MPhil seminar which may be taken for UCL credits, but we encourage colleagues and especially other postgraduate students (at UCL or elsewhere) to attend. We shall study a wide range of research relevant to philosophical debates about determinism, responsibility and free will, including research in legal theory concerning the relationships between responsibility, liability and culpability, and research in the philosophy of action concerning the physical, psychological, ethical and intellectual dimensions of human agency.
The schedule for the term, with the topics and readings, can be found in this post.
This seminar will be convened by Professor John Hyman (RoR’s PI), Professor Maria Alvarez (King’s College London).
