WS – 10th annual Legal Philosophy Workshop (LPW) [TCD & UCD]

The Legal Philosophy Workshop (LPW) is an annual conference designed to foster reflection on the nature of law and the philosophical issues underlying its different areas. Our aim is to promote work that connects legal philosophy with other branches of philosophy (e.g. moral and political philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of language, epistemology, or philosophy of action) and to create a venue for the critical examination of different viewpoints about law.

The LPW is an annual, read-ahead, event, hosted in venues alternating between North America and Europe. Previous workshops have been hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, University of Edinburgh, Queens University, University College London, Rutgers University, University of Surrey, and the University of Southern California. LPW 2023 will be hosted on June 14-15 by Trinity College Dublin.

We are writing to invite you to the 10th annual Legal Philosophy Workshop (LPW), which will be hosted from June 14-15, in-person only, at Trinity College Dublin. You can find a full program of speakers here. Attendance is free but space is limited; you can register to attend via this link or through the LPW website.

LPW is an annual pre-read workshop designed to foster reflection on the nature of law and the philosophical issues underlying its different areas. Our aim is to promote work that connects legal philosophy with other branches of philosophy (e.g., moral and political philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of language, epistemology, or philosophy of action) and to create a venue for the critical examination of different viewpoints about law. This year’s workshop is being hosted by both University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin, with support from the Society for Applied Philosophy.
