WS – Nathan Ballantyne’s Book, _Knowing Our Limits_

2 April 20203 April 2020

Michael Hannon (Nottingham) and Neil Levy (Macquarie/Oxford) are organising a workshop on Nathan Ballantyne’s book, Knowing Our Limits, on Thursday 2 April 2020, at Senate House, London (Room G35).

Changing our minds isn’t easy. Even when we recognize our views are disputed by intelligent and informed people, we rarely doubt our rightness. Why is this so? How can we become more open-minded, putting ourselves in a better position to tolerate conflict, advance collective inquiry, and learn from differing perspectives in a complex world? This workshop will explore the indispensable role of epistemology in tackling these issues through the lens of Nathan Ballantyne’s new book, Knowing Our Limits.

Claire Field, RoR’s post-doctoral research fellow, will participate as a speaker. Other speakers are:

  • Nathan Ballantyne (Fordham)
  • Quassim Cassam (Warwick)
  • Rachel Fraser (Oxford)
  • Neil Levy (Macquarie/Oxford)
