John Hyman is the project’s Director and PI (Principal Investigator). He is Grote Professor of Philosophy at UCL and a Senior Research Fellow at The Queen’s College, Oxford.
Rachel Achs is an ERC Research Fellow on the project (with effect from 1 October 2021), which she holds as an Extraordinary Junior Research Fellow at The Queen’s College, University of Oxford. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from Harvard University, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and a BA from Yale University.
Claire Hogg is an ERC Research Fellow on the project (with effect from 1 October 2021), which she holds UCL. In 2021 she completed a PhD in Law at King’s College London, under a Dickson Poon Scholarship. Previously, she obtained a BA and a BPhil in Philosophy from the University of Oxford, and an MA in Medical Ethics and Law from King’s College London.
Michael Thorne is a PhD candidate in philosophy at UCL, and the recipient of the graduate research scholarship jointly funded by Roots of Responsibility and the Department of Philosophy, UCL. Previously, he completed the BPhil at the University of Oxford, and worked as a policy adviser in the civil service.
David Campbell is an Associate Research Fellow on the project, and Visiting Researcher at the Department of Philosophy, UCL. He also holds a stipendiary lectureship in Law at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. Previously he researched for his PhD at the School of Law, Trinity College Dublin where he was co-convenor of the Irish Jurisprudence Society. He has also been called to the Bar of Ireland.
Simon-Pierre Chevarie-Cossette is an Associate Research Fellow on the project, and Assistant Professor of Practical Philosophy at the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. He was previously a Visiting Research Fellow at KCL, after completing a DPhil at Oxford on moral responsibility and scepticism.
Claire Field is an Associate Research Fellow on the project, and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Varieties of Risk, an AHRC sponsored joint research project hosted by the University of Stirling and Edinburgh. In 2019–20 she held an ERC Research Fellowship on Roots of Responsibility at UCL. Previously, she studied at the University of St Andrews, where she was a member of the Arché Philosophical Research Centre and the Centre for Ethics, Philosophy, and Public Affairs.
Maximilian Kiener is an Associate Research Fellow on the project, and a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in Philosophy at the University of Oxford. Previously, Maximilian was one of the first two ERC Research Fellows on Roots of Responsibility.
Yuuki Ohta is the project’s Deputy Director and Administrator. From 2015 to 2018 he was the Career Development Fellow in Philosophy at St Hugh’s College, University of Oxford. He has a DPhil in philosophy from the University of Oxford, and teaches philosophy in Oxford and at UCL.
